At Building New Paths, we understand that everyone is unique, and deserves to learn in a way that best suits them. This is why we believe in building new paths of learning that explicitly fit each individual’s needs.
Through embracing each individual’s uniqueness, we will create a familial atmosphere where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
Our programs are designed to teach skills in the areas of: Communication, Social Skills, Play, Daily Living, Safety, Self-Management, and School Readiness. Our programs are guided by the scientifically valid and evidence-based approaches of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Building New Paths was founded by Anita Sharma, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)/Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA), with the goal to provide the best evidence-based practices to help children reach their potential.
All instruction is provided by trained therapists, and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®)/Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA).
Our ABA sessions focus on targeting skills within key developmental areas. This may include an individual’s social skills, behaviour, communication, play skills, and more. At BNP, we offer comprehensive assessments and treatments to all neurodivergent individuals through celebrating their strengths, embracing their passions, and supporting their daily independence. We are dedicated to promoting neurodiversity and creating a more inclusive world for everyone.

Therapies rooted in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) are based on the science of behaviour and learning. ABA therapy was first developed in the 1970’s and benefits from decades of research to support its effectiveness in making meaningful change for individuals. These changes occur by modifying an individual’s environment to support and reinforce behaviors, and teach essential skills. This promotes, and ultimately leads, to skill development and increased independence.
ABA practices are constantly evolving and is inclusive of ethical obligations and improved practices. This ensures it is applied in a compassionate, trauma-informed, and least intrusive manner, as well as with a responsibility to obtain consent from families and, when possible, the clients themselves.
ABA therapy, when done correctly, can decrease excessive undesired behavior like aggression and other potentially dangerous behaviour. It also can help improve an individual’s attention, understanding of communication, social skills, safety skills, self-care, and emotional regulation. Additionally, ABA therapy can help with increasing language and expressive communication skills.
Your child should begin ABA therapy as soon as possible. Research indicates the earlier an individual begins receiving therapy, the greater the likelihood of learning and retaining long lasting and life changing skills. Additionally, the sooner therapy begins, the sooner a child begins catching up on critical skills promoting desired levels of independence and development as he/she grows older. Every child learns at a different pace and faces unique barriers impacting the rate of learning.
